The Madras high court formed a Special Investigation Team to probe the Karur stampede that killed 41, while temporarily banning political rallies on Tamil Nadu highways until Standard Operating Procedures are finalized. It also rejected a CBI probe plea and reserved orders on TVK functionaries’ bail, directing action against an “inflammatory” tweet.
