India has rejected the Court of Arbitration under the Indus Waters Treaty as illegal, refusing to recognize its authority to hear cases related to the Kishenganga and Ratle hydropower projects. The government emphasized that the court’s formation violated the 1960 treaty, deeming its proceedings and decisions void. Furthermore, India has placed the treaty in abeyance until Pakistan ceases cross-border terrorism.
